I selected the pattern I wanted to use for the baby blanket. I casted on and worked 9 or so rows and realized I had the wrong number of stiches. So I restarted it yesterday and got one row done. I really need to keep working on it. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/b17-28-hat-and-blanket-with-cable-pattern-in-merino-extra-fine is the pattern I chose to knit it is really pretty. I got it off ravelry which is an amazing website for finding all sorts of patterns knitting or crochet.

This weekend I got to work a lot on my quilt. Friday I got it all cut and layered and then basted together. Saturday I was able to quilt the top pieces together. The sewing machine got messed up later and the tension was all off, so I was only able to sew one longer strip together. But I sewed all day and got a lot done so I was happy. On Friday night Abagail and I went over to Al and Debbies house and smocked. We worked on out bonnets. I got about half of mine done and we're going back on Tuesday so we'll hopefully get them done then. Debbie asked me to make a baby blanket for a friend. The little girl is one. So I've been searching on Ravelry to find a knitted pattern like she wanted.

Kitcheness

After class today I went and ran some errands. I went to Meijer and picked up some groceries so that I could make a mango salsa. It turned out pretty yummy. I just added the stuff I wanted to it because I couldn't find a recipe I liked. What I used in it was;
one mango, about 7 roma tomatoes, one pepper with a really weird name, and the juice from a lime. I chopped and mixed and added some pepper. Then later Ab's added some salt and sugar and that made it yummy too.
I also made a delicious pumpkin bread. I have never made pump in bread before. I have eaten it. I'll post the recipe below. Ab's and Samantha both had it and really liked it too. I made a cream cheese spread to put on top. It just cream cheese with some sugar and liquid. This is the link to the recipe. It's super fallish and easy because it uses canned pumpkin.

kyle's house

So I went last week to look at Kyle's house and when I was looking at it he told me I would be able to help out with it while he was working on it and everything. He said I would get to pick out my own ceiling fan and the paint for the room too. So after I dropped off my movies at the library I stopped at lowes and just looked around for a long time. I browsed through the bathroom stuff, the kitchen stuff. I had an fun time just looking at everything. I looked at the ceiling fans and found two I liked, but I think I know which one I would want. Then I looked at the paint. I got TONS of sampled :) I went with more of the earthy homey tones. I picked up a few sampled with more of a cheery yellow tone though too. I'm super excited to show them to mom and the girls to get their opinion. And Kyle of course. I think he'll let us pick out whatever we want he said he didn't care and didn't have any certain color he wanted. He's going to order his windows and then install them with dad's help. While he is waiting on the windows to come he is going to tear stuff out and let us paint!!!! I'm super exacted and looking forward to it!

trip to the quilt shop!!!

This past weekend I decided even though I didn't have my quilt back for the salt and pepper quilt I would go ahead and cut out the batting. I've had the top cut out for for ever. So I cut all the batting before I went to Samantha's recital. (which was very fun-it was different because it was a mini recital at her house) After we got back home I called the quilt shop and checked to see what time they were open till. I had enough time to get there and then a half and hour to shop. So mom and I left in search for the backing to my quilt. I had looked at Rossville quilts before and didn't find anything. Then I went down to Indy's Quilt Quarters and still came up short. So I was willing to give it another shot. And after looking a short time, we came across a lovely cheerie yellow. (which was what I truly wanted)I grabbed it and had to continue to see all the other new things they had gotten in since I had last been in. It's such a nice shop. After I got my fabric cut we payed and I went home floating on cloud nine. It was the most perfect color!! What I had been searching and searching for. So of coure once I got home I measure and cut away. I got the entire back cut out. I can't wait until the weekend comes so that I can go back home get out my sewing machine and start on my quilt!!!!

Well I thought I'd start this blog so that I could archive the project I work on and be able to take a look back at what I have accomplished. At the current moment I am working on a baby blanket. I am using a dishcloth knitting pattern that keeps increasing. My yarn is a synthetic type really soft and fluffy. There is a good variety of colors in it too so it would make a nice gift for a boy or girl. I also am repairing a blanket for a friend. The blanket was crocheted and has gotten some holes in it which need to be fixed. I'm not exactly sure yet how I will go about fixing it but I have found a very close match of yarn. So that's a start.
